Young age & Adulthood of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH (Urdu)

یہ مُبارَک قافلہ جس میں حُضور ﷺ شَریک تھے مکّے سے رَوانہ ہوگیا۔ راستے میں یہ کَئی جَگہ ٹھہرتا ہُوا بَڑھتا رَہا۔ یَہاں تَک کہ ایک روز یہ قافلہ شَام (مُلکِ شام) کی سَرحَد میں داخِل ہوگیا۔ یَہاں ایک سَرحدِی شہر تھا جِس کا نَام ’’بُصریٰ‘‘ تَھا۔ قریش کے قافلے اَکثر یَہاں ٹکہرا کرتے تھے۔ اِس قافلے نے بِھی یَہاں پڑاؤ ڈال دیَا۔

جس جَگہ قافلے نے پَڑاؤ ڈالا اُس کے سامنے عِیسائیوں کی ایک بُہت بَڑی عِبادَت گاہ تِھی۔ اِس عِبادَت گاہ میں عِیسَائیوں کے ایک بَڑے مَذہَبی پیشوَا اور عالِم رَہتے تھے جِن کا نَام ’’بُحیرا‘‘ تَھا۔ قریشی قافلے یَہاں اَکثَر ٹھہرا کَرتے تھے مَگر بُحیرا راہِب کَبھی اُن کی طَرف تَوجّہ نَہیں کَرتے تھے۔ اِسی طَرح اِس دَفعَہ بِھی یہ قافلہ یَہاں آکر ٹھہرگیا۔ سب لوگ سستانے لَگے، لیٹ بیٹھ گئے۔ اُسی وَقت قافلے میں بُحیرا کا قَاصِد آیَا۔ اُس نے آکَر بُحیرا کی طَرف سے یہ پَیغام دیا۔

’’قُریشِیو! مَیں نے آپ کی دَعوَت کےلیے کھانا تَیار کَرایا ہے اِس لیے آج آپ میرے ساتھ کَھانا کَھائیں۔ مَگر ہَر چھوٹَا، بَڑا آئے کوئی آدمی رَہ نہ جائے۔‘‘

قُریشیوں کو اِس دَعوَت پَر بُہت حَیرَت ہوئی اس لیے کہ وہ ہَمیشہ سے اِس جَگہ ٹھہرتے آئے تھے مَگر بُحیرا رَاہِب نے کَبھی اُن کی دعوَت نَہیں کی اسی لیے وہ سوچتے تھے کہ آج کیا خَاص بَات ہوئی جو رَاہب نے ھَماری دَعوَت کی۔

غَرض یَہی سوچتے ہُوئے سب قَافلے والے عِبادَت گاہ میں رَاہب کے پاس پہنچ گئے مَگر یہ لوگ حضور ﷺ کو پڑاؤ میں ہِی چھوڑ گئے۔ اُنہوں نے خَیال کیا کہ آپ ﷺ بچّے ہیں اِس لیے آپ ﷺ کو ساتھ لےجانا ضَرورِی نَہیں۔ جَب یہ لوگ راہِب کے پاس پہنچے تو ایک قُریشی نے بُحیرا سے کہا۔

’’بُحیرا۔۔۔! آج تو آپ نے بِالکُل نَئی بَات کی۔ ھم یہاں سے اَکثر گُزرا کرتے ہیں لَیکِن کبھی آپ ہماری دَعوَت نَہیں کرتے۔ پِھر آج کیا نَئی بات ہے؟‘‘

بُحیرا نے جواب دیا۔

’’یہ بات تو ٹھیک ہے مَگر آپ لوگ ہمارے پڑوس میں آکر ٹھہرے اِس لیے ھمارے مَہمان ہیں۔ مَیں نے چاہا کہ آپ کے اعزاز میں آپ کی میزبانی کروں۔‘‘

بُحیرا نے اَپنی مَذہَبی کِتابوں میں حضور ﷺ کی نِشانِیاں پڑھی تھیں اور وہ یہ جَانتے تھے کہ اَب دنیا کی آخری اُمّت کے نَبی آنے وَالے ہیں۔ اس دَفعہ جب قریشی قافلہ یَہاں آکر ٹھہرا تو اُنہوں نے دیکَھا کہ بادَل کا ایک ٹُکڑا ایک قافلے والے پَر مُستَقِل سایہ کئے ہوئے ہے اور اُن کے ساتھ ساتھ ہے۔ اب راہب نے دیکھا کہ یہ بادل ایک نَوجَوَان لڑکے پر سایہ کئے ہوئے ہے۔ پھر وہ نوجوان ایک دَرخت کے نیچے بیٹھے تو بدلی درخت پر آگئی۔

بُحیرا نے اس نَبی کی جو نِشانِیاں پَڑھی تِھیں اُن میں یہ بھی تِھی کہ اُن پَر ایک بادَل سایہ کئے ہوگا۔ اِسی لیے اُنہوں نے اَپنا اِطمینان کرنے کےلیے سب قافلے والوں کی دَعوَت کی تاکہ خُدا کے رَسول کو قریب سے دیکھیں۔ چُناچہ جَب وہ لوگ آگئے تو بُحیرا نے اُن سب پر اَلَگ اَلگ نَظر ڈالی۔ مَگر اُن میں سے کِسی کے سَاتھ بِھی وہ نِشانی نَظر نہ آئی۔ اِسی لیے راہِب نے پِھر قریشیوں سے کہا۔

’’قریشیو۔۔۔! آپ میں سے کوئی رَہا تو نَہیں!‘‘

قافلے وَالوں نے بتایا کہ ہَم سب ہی آگئے ہیں صِرف ایک بچّے کو چھوڑ آئے ہیں۔ وہ کَم عُمر ہے اِس لیے ہَم نے سَاتھ لَانا ضَرُورِی نَہیں سَمجھا۔ مَگر راہِب نے پِھر اِصرَار کِیا کہ کوئی بِھی غیرحَاضِر نَہیں ہونَا چاہیئے۔ چُنانچہ حُضُور ﷺ کے تایا ’’حارِث‘‘ جاکر حُضُور ﷺ کو بھی لے آئے۔ راہب نے دیکھا کہ جَب حُضُور ﷺ آرَہے تھے تو اُس بادَل کا سایہ آپ کے ساتھ ساتھ تھا۔ اس کے بعد بُحیرا آپ ﷺ کے بَدن کو گُھور گُھور کَر دیکھتے رَہے۔ راہب کو آپ ﷺ میں وہ ساری نِشانِیاں نَظر آرہی تھیں جو اُنہوں نے پَیغمبَر آخرُالزمان کے مُتعَلّق اَپنی کِتابوں میں پڑھی تھیں۔

جَب سب لوگ کَھانا کَھانے کے بَعد واپَس جَانے لَگے تو بُخیرا راہِب جَلدی سے حُضُور ﷺ کے پَاس آئے اور کَہنے لَگے۔

’’مَیں آپ سے کُچھ بَاتیں پوچھنَا چاہتَا ہوں۔ آپ کو لات اور عزّیٰ کی قَسَم! آپ میری بَاتوں کا جَواب ضَرُور دیجئے۔‘‘

حُضُور ﷺ نے فَرمایَا۔

’’لات اور عُزّیٰ کے نَام پَر مُجھ سے کُچھ مَت پُوچھو۔ خُدا کی قَسم اُن سے زِیادہ نَاپَسند مُجھے کوئی چِیز نَہیں ہے۔‘‘

بُحیرا نے کہا۔

’’تَب پِھر آپ کو خُدا کی قَسَم! میری بَاتوں کا جَواب دیجئے۔‘‘

اِس پَر آپ ﷺ نے بُحیرا کو اِجازَت دی کہ جو کُچھ پُوچھنَا چَاہتے ہو پُوچھو۔ اَب بُحیرا نے حُضُور ﷺ سے وہ سارِی باتیں پُوچھنی شُرُوع کیں جو آپ ﷺ کی ذَات سے متعلّق تِھیں۔ رَاہب نے آپ ﷺ کی عادات، مِزاج، سونے، جَاگنے اور اُٹھنے، بیٹھنے کے مُتعلّق سَوال کئے۔ آپ ﷺ بُحیرا کی ہَر بَات کا جَوَاب دیتے رَہے اور جو کُچھ وہ پُوچھتے بَتا دیتے۔ راہِب آپ ﷺ کا جَواب سُنتے اور اَپنے دِل میں تَصدِیق کرتے کہ کِتابوں میں یَہی نِشانِیاں لِکھی ہوئی ہیں۔ آخِر  میں بُحیرا نے آپ ﷺ کی کَمر مُبارَک کھولی اور مُہرِ نَبوّت کی زِیَارَت کی جو دونوں مونڈھوں کے دَرمِیان میں تھی۔ بُحیرا نے فوراً اُس کو بوسَہ دِیا۔ اُس کے بَعد بُحیرا راہِب حُضُور ﷺ کے چَچَا اَبوطالِب کے پَاس آئے اور اُن سے پُوچھنے لَگے۔

’’یہ بَچّہ تُمھارا کون ہے؟‘‘

ابُوطالِب نے کہا۔

’’یہ میرا بیٹا ہے۔‘‘

بُحیرا نے اِنکار میں گَردن ہَلا کر کَہا۔

’’نَامُمکِن! یہ ہو ہِی نَہیں سَکتا کہ اِس بَچّے کا بَاپ زِندہ ہو۔‘‘

Young age & Adulthood of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH

The caravan consisting of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH and Hazrat Abu Talib started its journey to Syria, on the way, there were many halts as the journey was very long. Finally the caravan reached the borders of Syria and camped in the outskirts of the border in a  town called Bosra (now known as Busra al Sham). Normally, the people fo Makkah would encamp and halt at Bosra whenever they were on their way to Syria. This place, Bosra was populated with Christians and they had a monastery opposite to the place where the the people of Makkah (Quraish) had camped. There lived a high ranked scholar and a monk in the monastery named Bahira. As the people of Makkah would come every time to this place it was usual for Bahira and he would never care or even enquire about the affairs of the people of Makkah, however this time it was quite the opposite, during the time when the people of Quraish were settling down themselves after a long journey, a disciple of Bahira came down to the camp of Quraish and informed that Bahira has invited the people of Quraish for a feast and also requested that none of the person in the caravan must be left out and Bahira had requested the company of all persons for the feast.

Bosra Town

The people of Quraish were surprised on the invitation of  Bahira as they were never ever invited for such feast by him, they use to camp in the same place every time during their journey to Syria for many years, but Bahira had never offered the people of Makkah such hospitality, this left the people of Quraish in dilemma as to what is so special this time that Bahira has arranged for a fest. Finally, after few discussions amongst themselves, the people of Quraish accepted the invitation of Bahira and they all went to attend the feast, however they left Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH at the camp to look after the camels and their belongings as they felt he (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH) was a young boy and his presence would be of no such importance in the feast which is meant only for the elderly and mature persons. When the people of Quraish reached the for the feast, they asked Bahira, “what is so special this time that you are showing us such hospitality whereas we regularly come over this place and camp, but until now you have never shown such act of kindness against us”. Bahira replied, that he felt that they are his neighbours and in the wake of honouring the neighbours he is extending such hospitality. 

Monastry of Bahira Monk

Bahira had read in the original unadulterated gospels which he had with him, about the coming of the final messenger of Allah (swt) and the signs of the last of the Prophet. When the caravan of Quraish was passing in the city of Bosra, Bahira saw that a formation of cloud is also travelling along with the caravan until to the place where they camped, Bahira also saw that the cloud was travelling above the head of a young boy who was travelling with the caravan, when the young boy was resting under a tree, the cloud also stopped above the tree as if it was providing shade to the young boy. Bahira had read about the signs of the last prophet and one of the signs were that the cloud would become a shade to the Prophet and will accompany him wherever he would go. Hence, in order to make himself comfortable with the signs shown he had invited the people of Makkah (Quraish) for a feast this time and did show them such good hospitality, and also to see the last and final Prophet of Allah (swt). 

When the people fo Quraish came down, Bahira carefully observed each and every person of Quraish, when all of them settled down for the feast Bahira said to the people of Quraish, that had they left some one behind, to which the people of Quraish replied that we all have come but have left a young boy, as he is of young age, it would not be appropriate for him to attend such gatherings. Bahira informed the people of Makkah (Quraish) that he (Bahira) did not want any one to be left behind and once again requested to bring every one whosoever is left behind, hence uncle of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH Harris went to the camp and brought Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH along with him. When Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH  was on his way to attend the feast, Bahira saw that the cloud was also travelling above the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH. Bahira was now firm about the signs which he had read in his gospels but wanted to have a thorough check on all the signs shown in the gospel about the coming of the last of the Prophet. Hence, Bahira waited for the feast to be over, when the feast was over and people were moving out, Bahira came down to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH and said “I want to ask few questions to you and by the name of "Lat and Uzza" (the idols which the people of Makkah would consider as god and pray), I request you to reply them”. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH said to Bahira not to ask him anything by the name of “Lat and Uzza” as they are the ones whom he (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH) dislikes the most,  Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH also informed Bahira that if he would ask by the name of Allah (swt) he would reply to him. Bahira’s another sign of Prophethood was confirmed as the Prophets of Allah would never be indulged themselves into Idolatry, however Bahira did not stop, he wanted to ask more and know more about Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH, hence he said to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH “by the name of Allah (swt) please do reply to my questions”, to which Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH agreed and permitted him to ask whatever he wished to ask. 

Bahira started to ask questions about daily routine, habits and affairs with fellow people,  behaviour towards elderly and to young ones, day to day activities etc of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH, and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH replied to every question, which were matching with the signs what Bahira had read and was also looking for. Finally, Bahira requested Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH to lift his shirt and when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH lifted his shirt, to Bahira’s amazement he witnessed the seal of the Prophethood engraved on Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH between his two shoulders at the back (opposite to the chest). When Bahira witnessed the seal of the Prophethood, he kissed the seal and went to Hazrat Abu Talib, and enquired how is this young boy (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH)  related to you, Hazrat Abu Talib replied that he is my son, Bahira shook his head in disagreement and said it is impossible that the father of this young boy (Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH) is still alive.
